Over one-hundred lady golfers representing eleven different clubs met at The Roe Park Resort in Limavady earlier this week for the annual Elemis Spa Ladies’ Open.
Blessed with great playing conditions, over thirty teams of three took to the 18-hole parkland course for the event, all in a bid to bag the competitions top prize of £300 worth of Resort vouchers.
The annual event is rapidly becoming one of the highlights of the ladies’ golf calendar amongst local clubs and those coming from further afield. Lady Captain, Ann Dean commented “we’re so glad that teams from as far away as Donegall, Belfast and Ballycastle made the effort to come down and play. It’s a superb course and there’s been such a friendly atmosphere around the whole competition.”
In the end, it was Ann Kearney, Estelle Rose, Bernie Lowry from Roe Park Resort that prevailed as the winning team. Gretta Kerlin, Rosemary Mc Keever and Anne O'Kane of Roe Park took away £90 of Resort vouchers, whilst Una Bradley, Rosie Shaw and Noreen Graham from Kilrea won £60 worth, as they came in second and third respectively.
However, as Roe Park Resort Golf & Spa Manager Terry Kelly explained, he was delighted that all the participants on the day could walk away as winners: “We’re really pleased that thanks to the support of our own Spa brand, top skincare range Elemis, all golfers who took part in our annual Elemis Ladies Open received a special gift bag worth £25.” He continued, “The standard of play this year has been fantastic and we hope everyone will join us again next summer for another great competition.”
The Resort completed an investment of over £400,000 in its golf and leisure facilities earlier this year. The work included a £300,000 investment in redeveloping the Resort’s prestigious parkland golf course, alongside a £100,000 refurbishment of the health club changing facilities.
The redevelopment has provided golfers with access to prestige greens and advanced golf technology to enhance their game. The final stage of the investment saw the last three greens of the course being reconstructed to improve play and create a more challenging finish to the course. The golf course redevelopment also included a multi-tier finish to surrounding bunkers and introduced additional bunkers throughout the fairways to give players a more competitive game.
Next year’s Elemis Spa Ladies’ Open at Roe Park Resort will take place on Monday 29th August 2016.
