Roe Park Resort tops the field again at Golf Awards Ceremony

Limavady business picks up second award in as many months

The Roe Park Resort in Limavady has been crowned ‘Best Golf Resort in Ulster’ at the 2016 Golfer’s Guide to Ireland Awards only a few short weeks after being heralded as Northern Ireland’s Best Spa.

The Resort held off stiff competition from the likes of the Lough Erne Resort and Hilton Templepatrick at the recent awards evening, which was held at the prestigious K-Club Golf Resort in Kildare. Awarded on the basis of an all-Ireland poll undertaken from within the golf and resort business community, this is the second occasion in three years that Roe Park has claimed the accolade, following its win in 2014.

The award comes shortly after the Resort was proclaimed Northern Ireland’s Best Spa at the 2015 Good Spa Guide Awards, where the business was praised for its excellent spa experience and facilities and close proximity to areas of outstanding natural beauty on the North Coast.

Roe Park Resort General Manager George Graham commented “we are delighted to have reclaimed the distinguished title of Ulster’s Best Golf Resort and I would like to thank my team of staff for their hard work and dedication. We are very proud of our spa and golf facilities and customer service record at Roe Park Resort, and it is fantastic that achievements in these areas has now been recognised at the highest level across the board.”

This latest award comes as the Roe Park Resort was ranked 19th in the top 50 Gold Resort’s in the whole of Ireland by popular online publication, Golfing Weekly, and follows an investment of over £400,000 in its golf and leisure facilities by the business earlier this year. The work included a £300,000 investment in redeveloping the Resort’s prestigious parkland golf course, alongside a £100,000 refurbishment of the health club changing facilities. The redevelopment has provided golfers with access to prestige greens and advanced golf technology to enhance their game as part of the Roe Park Resort’s state-of-the-art ‘Golf Academy.’

The final stage of the investment saw the last three greens of the course being reconstructed to improve play and create a more challenging finish to the course. The golf course redevelopment also included a multi-tier finish to surrounding bunkers and introduced additional bunkers throughout the fairways to give players a more competitive game.

The course has recently attracted high profile golfers such as five-time European Tour Champion Michael Hoey, who praised the standard of the greens and course layout, citing Roe Park Resort as a “great golfing experience".
